![]() Battlestar Galactica Companion Guide Jumps Into Stores The brand new series of Battlestar Galactica, a ‘re-imagined’ version of the cult 1970s television programme, has quickly become one of the most critically acclaimed and popular sci-fi shows on television. Boasting viewer figures of 3.1 million, the debut episode became the highest-rated January show on the SCI FI Channel, and the channel’s second-biggest premiere ever. Titan Books have had complete access to the set of this groundbreaking and innovative new take on the Battlestar universe right from the beginning! October marks the release of the only authorized companion guide to Battlestar Galactica. Authored by David Bassom, seasoned sci-fi and fantasy writer, Battlestar Galactica: The Official Companion (Titan Books; June 2005; $14.95; ISBN: 1-84576-097-2), features exclusive interviews, insider secrets, a complete episode guide to the mini-series and first season of the television series, and a 16-page color photo supplement. According to Titan editor Adam Newell, “There’s no more popular show at the moment than Battlestar Galactica. Even fans of the original are converts to the new series. Our companion guide will fill a welcome void for these fans as they eagerly await the second season.” Book Description Battlestar Galactica is back! The brand new, ‘re-imagined’ version of the cult 1970s series has quickly become the most critically acclaimed SF show on TV, with massive viewing figures to match. With its classy ensemble cast, including Edward James Olmos (Miami Vice) and Mary McDonnell (Dances with Wolves, Independence Day), its cutting edge special effects, superb production design and gritty, adult-oriented scripts, the new Battlestar Galactica is being hailed as both a worthy successor to a classic original, and a stunning piece of television in its own right. Titan Books have been on set from the beginning, and now proudly present the official companion, packed with exclusive interviews, photos, behind the scenes secrets, and a complete episode guide to the mini-series and first season. Quick Review The "Official Companion" book is a slick, well thought out guide to the "NEW" Battlestar Galactica. At 157 pages, this book is full of great material covering everything from Episodes from season one to the behind the scenes with the Visual Effects. One of the most impressive features of the book is the volume of images provided. The reader is treated to a new picture on almost every page. The book even has a full color section of battlestar goodness! The wide selection of images helps bring new and old fans of battlestar up to speed on the new show at lightspeed. Titan Books has done a great job here, and I would advise everyone to check this book out. We can only hope that they will follow this book up with a new one covering season 2.
