Dec 2005 BG Newsletter

Hi everyone,

April 2008 Richard Hatch newsletter

Hi everyone,

Been a while since I last shared with you all but with the debut of season four, I wanted to share with you what’s been going on with Battlestar, our new and updated Battlestar site and our planned social networking service we hope to have up and running in the very near future. I hope you all enjoyed the opening show and much appreciation for surviving such a long wait for the new season. Everyone is excited and very proud of the work that has gone into these last 20 episodes. This show is truly a labor of love for both the crew and the entire cast and we will all be very sad to see it all end. Believe it or not it’s rare to work on a show like this where everyone gets along and you feel part of an extended family. Everyone has made life long friendships during the past four years and this life changing experience will be one of our most memorable!! We want to thank all of you for hanging in there with us and having the patience to endure some of the long waits between seasons. We don’t make the schedules and being fans of the show ourselves, we all get frustrated right along with all of you. Arriving back on the show to shoot the first of several episodes during the final season has been both exciting due to such explosive and very powerful, well written scripts and also sad because for me this is the second time I’ve had to go through such an ending. Endings are painful for me and I’m sure for most people especially when you’ve had such a meaningful experience, but hey, life goes on and for many of us this will be only the beginning of many more good things to come. All these actors have wonderful careers ahead of them and if the new prequel “Caprica” is even remotely as good as this series has been, it will be a most definite and welcome addition to the annals of Sci-Fi. There is not enough good Sci-Fi on TV period!! LOL Do any of you agree? As I walk around the sets and remember all the amazing scripts and performance that have gone on here I can’t help but think how lucky I’ve been, to have been part of such a rare, heartfelt and well written show. Actors love to work but believe me, being part of something that is not only highly entertaining but also meaningful and insightfully reflective of today’s world doesn’t happen that often in one’s career. This particular episode I just filmed was actually directed by Ron Moore and I have to tell you that he definitely has the gift! Some things cannot be taught and experience and training obviously help everyone, but some people take to the water like fish and this particular ocean could be Ron Moore’s new home, if he so chooses! LOL. Filming in Vancouver is fun for me because I love this city with its stunning vista’s, oceans, rivers and snowcapped mountains. And the woman!! LOL. They tell me it’s 4 to 1 women to men, can you believe that? Must be a lot of gay and bi women up there to take up the slack!!! LOL. Just kidding, but hey, it is fun to walk down Burrard St. and enjoy the buzz of so many shoppers buying their most favorite things. Everyone seems so excited and in great spirits. I love the energy!!!

On the home front, I’ve been working hard on building a new BG site that will include a social network for BG fans everywhere. Just like Utube, you will be able to have your own home page, upload videos, exchange info, do live video streaming, chats and even have your own personalized BG email. It will all be coming online in the next week or so. Tune in and see what’s new! Any suggestions will be most appreciated. And by the

"As many of you know the new BG series has been airing in England and now the United States to some of the highest ratings ever on the Sci-fi channel. As a result NBC and the Sci-fi channel has picked up the series for another season. Filming will most likely commence in May of this year....."
